Aoyama-kun goes back to soccer themed content this week. This time, they play their second match in the high school tournament. While it should be an easy win for Fujimi, skeletons from Tsukamoto’s (the glasses wearing, ball-off-butt bouncing player) past come back to haunt him.
Tsukamoto is now known as the officer in charge of boosting the team’s morale with his and the other two stooges’ shenanigans. But in middle school, Tsukamoto was bullied by the team captain. Because of that, he froze up whenever he was playing against him. Now Fujimi plays Tsukamoto’s bully’s team, and Tsukamoto once again freezes up.
But this is Aoyama-kun’s show, after all. So we can’t forget about him. He overhears people during halftime explaining Tsukamoto’s situation, and devises a plan to have Tsukamoto score and bring back his confidence.
This episode takes a more serious tone, with bullying and all that. So if you were looking for strictly comedy like in the previous episode, you won’t find it here. This is also another one of the not Aoyama centered episodes. I think they are trying to build up the background of the other players on the team right now, while things are still early.
The animation and OST of each episode continue to impress. I’m not used to watching sports anime, so maybe it’s just that. But it feels like Aoyama-kun has some pretty stellar scenes. The game winning goal, as well as the subsequent play leading up to it, come to mind first. The hype-up music that also plays during these scenes is also really nice to hear. This OST may be one I have to add to my workout playlist. If I ever decide to work out, that is.
Based on my predictions, I am gonna guess that next week will take a break from soccer and lean more towards the comedy aspect of things. Those are my favorite episodes, so I am very ready for that!
